Design, Visual & Media Arts

Digital Art & Design | ​Introduction

This introductory course will develop a strong foundation in both visual and digital art concepts, techniques, and tools. It will emphasize the creative process (research, ideation, development, and revision) and help students to develop a method for creating impactful work, both conceptually and aesthetically. Protocols for peer critique will be practiced to establish a strong culture of collaboration and feedback.

  • Digital Photography Basics
  • Adobe Photoshop Foundation
  • ​Image Manipulation, Retouching,

This course fulfills either Visual or Practical Arts credit in the CU & USC systems.

Advanced Digital Art & Design​ | ​Capstone

Advanced Digital Art & Design will be a culmination of all previously developed visual and digital art knowledge applied to more challenging and advanced projects. Students will be encouraged to pursue individual areas of artistic interest and complete client projects for on and off campus clients. Through this course, students will develop a strong and varied body of work, a deeper understanding of potential careers in art and design, and learn industry standards and best practices for working and collaborating in a design studio environment. Students will meet with industry professionals and clients, and complete projects with the possibility of having their work selected for publication, which can be noted on college and internship applications, resumes, etc.

  • Intermediate Photoshop
  • ​Commercial Photography & Lighting
  • Adobe Illustrator & Vector Graphics
  • Intro to Graphic Design
  • Logo Design
  • Typography
  • Basic Animation (stop motion, hand drawn, etc)
  • ​Digital Portfolio & Personal Branding​​
